Stefano Stefani comes from the rolling hills of Tuscany where his grandfather owned a vineyard and was an avid collector of fine wines. Stefano came to Australia in 1985 and his dream was to continue in his grandfather’s footsteps in this new land.
Business success enabled he and his wife Rina to make this dream a reality with the purchase of the first property in the Yarra Valley.
Stefano is passionate about producing good quality wine and celebrating life generously with his family and friends.
Mario Marson is a great family friend. He and Stefano share a close affiliation stemming from a richly generous Italian culture. Mario with his extensive experiences at Mount Mary and Jasper Hill vineyards, oversees the operation of all the vineyards. He is also charged with winemaking responsibilities.
Aiming high means that total control over the process is vital if goals are to be realised. Every step of the way is made with quality outcomes in mind. Fruit is handpicked and harvested at optimal maturity and low crop levels. Balance is sought firstly in the vineyard, basic winemaking with minimal intervention and the very best of care in the winery aims to preserve purity of fruit and express the characteristics of terroir in the finished wines.

Favourable growing conditions produced a rewarding crop of this fruit grown at our Heathcote vineyard. The grapes were hand- picked, bunch sorted pressed and cold settled. The juice during fermentation was transferred into French oak barriques. Upon the completion of its alcoholic and malo-lactic fermentations, it was matured in cask for twelve months. Matured on lees, with periodic stirring, this wine was then lightly fined and filtered.
