The grapes for this signature label wine were grown on the Ellis family vineyard which is situated on the ancient Cambrian soil of the Colbinabbin range within the Heathcote wine growing region. This full bodied cabernet was matured in French oak barrels for 14 months.

Crimson-purple; a very pure and stylish example of cool-grown cabernet sauvignon picked at precisely the right moment; the bouquet and palate have pristine blackcurrant and redcurrant fruit, the palate with almost silky, and certainly very fine, tannins; medium-bodied at best, but with all of the ingredients for a long life.

Deep red and ruby-purple in colour. Classic currants and cassis with dark briary fruit and spicy cedary oak on the nose. Intense palate with a degree of elegance and finesse. Complexity of primary flavours given support by savoury elements including earth, spice and black olives finishing with fresh acid and a hint of spearmint.

A process similar to that of the Shiraz Reserve, the Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is made from visually perfect fruit selected from the healthiest vines.

The Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is quite rare, having only been made a handful of times since 1991. Most years it is blended back with the Alan’s Cabernet, but on occasion it shines as being something extra special.
